Use scissors to cut along the created outline. Individually cut designs are easier to work with than leaving a single sheet intact.

Prepare the colored paste: Place a 1-inch (2.5 cm) portion of glaze on a plate or palette. Sprinkle a pinch of AC-310 Silkscreen Medium over the glaze and let it sit for 10-15 seconds. Mix with a palette knife until smooth and lump-free. If the mixture is still too runny, add a little more Silkscreen Medium to thicken it. If the mixture is too thick, add a small amount of glaze. Mix again and adjust as needed. The final consistency should be similar to smooth peanut butter.

Surface Preparation : We recommend that beginners familiarize themselves with the sifting process by applying it to an unglazed bisque surface. Wipe the bisque with a slightly damp sponge. You'll notice that the sifter has a smooth side and a rough side. The orientation of the sifter affects the pattern you create! Place the sifter smooth side down on your project, spreading your index finger and thumb to press down on the sifter to prevent it from moving. For a different look, place the sifter thicker side down.

Apply the paste: Using the index finger of your free hand, scoop some paste and apply it to the center of the screen (you may want to wear a rubber/latex glove to protect yourself from potential skin irritation). Use your index finger (or a squeegee) to gently spread the paste into the open areas of the screen mesh. Vigorous application can cause the screen to shift, which can result in blurry, indistinct patterns. Spread the paste from the center outward, using light, circular rubbing motions (this helps prevent the sheet from shifting or buckling). You can lift one corner of the screen to check if the pattern has been completely transferred. On curved surfaces, you may need to work in smaller sections to ensure screen-to-surface contact and avoid buckling.

Removing the sheet : While the paste is still wet, carefully pull the screen away from the design. If you plan to reuse the screen immediately, you won't need to clean it between uses until the second or third use (the screen's pores can become clogged and cause incomplete or partial design transfer).

Cleaning, care and storage: With proper care, your Mayco Designer Silkscreen will produce hundreds of images. To clean, use warm water and a sponge to gently remove the paste. Do not scrub with abrasive materials or bristle brushes, as this can tear the fine mesh and distort the design. If you cannot clean the screen immediately after use, allow it to soak in water. To dry, lay it flat on a paper towel to dry. Silkscreens should be stored in small containers, envelopes, binders, etc. Avoid creasing or crushing the screens to maximize their durability.
